Zenin, Ivan Alexandrovich

Received in 1985 the title of Professor, Faculty of Civil Law, in 1976 Assistant Professor, in 1970 Senior Research Fellow.

In 1964 defended his Candidate’s Dissertation before the Dissertation Council of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Topic of the dissertation: “Legal Regulation of Cooperative Supplies of Machine-Building Products”.

In 1981 defended his Doctoral Thesis before the Dissertation Council of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Topic of the thesis: “Structure, Functions and Terms and Conditions for Effective Civil Legislation in the area of Scientific and Technological Progress”. The thesis was based on the theory of the effectiveness of civil legislation in the area of scientific and technological progress, created thanks to a cycle of fundamental and applied research of the legal problems of science, technology, the development of inventions, rationalization and patent licensing.

In 2004 Professor Zenin received the title of Professor Emeritus of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

A number of positive reviews have been published on his monographs and other books, including in foreign publications (in Germany, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, etc.).

Area of research:

In 1961-1964 researched the problems of one of the most important business contracts — contracts on the cooperation of supplies of machine-building products. From 1965 to 1970 studied problems that are relevant today on the remuneration of the authors of discoveries, inventions and innovation proposals. The materials of the research were reflected in a book “Remuneration of Inventors and Innovators in the USSR” (1968).

In 1992 participated in the drafting of programs for the preparation of a new professional group of specialists in Russia — patent attorneys.

The civil and commercial law of foreign countries is a key area of research.

From 1975 to 2010 during fieldwork and participation in international congresses in the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries collected a significant amount of material on foreign law.

Reads courses of lectures on civil law (from 1970); inter-departmental course of civil and commercial law of foreign countries (from 1981), and also courses on patent law, copyright and intellectual property rights (from 1967).

Member of the doctoral dissertation councils of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, member of the Scientific and Engineering Board of the USSR State Committee for Inventions and Discoveries (1986-1992), Scientific and Engineering Board of Rospatent (Federal Agency for Patents and Trademarks) (from 1992) and the Federal Institute for Industrial Property (from 2002), the International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP - Switzerland, from 1982), Patent Attorney of the Russian Federation (Reg. No. 14 — from 1992), arbitrator of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

Professor Zenin's students have prepared under his leadership and defended 28 candidate dissertations.
